As promised, we have been working to combat foul play in the game and have begun correcting anomalies which have been used by a few to inflate their MONOPOLY City Streets coffers.
Last week, in the interest of adding more excitement to game play, we increased the value of many of the streets when we relaunched the game. However, as a result, rental income on the most expensive streets grew exponentially. During the past 24 hours, we have adjusted the rental income multiplier to correct overinflated rents which some have exploited in their quest to become a real estate mogul.
We did not take away any income from the past several days, but you will notice that starting at the most recent payday, you did receive reduced rents on your buildings. Over the course of several days, this adjustment will once again level the playing field among all players.
The incentive to buy bigger – and more expensive – streets remains overall, as those streets have more potential for development (and thus more rent) over the course of the game. So, you may have to adjust your buying and building strategy and begin negotiating with other players to get to the higher levels of the game.
We apologize for not posting the update about rent before the change was made to the game. But, we are confident that this change will be in the best interest of all players.
Next up in the quest to combat cheaters: deletion of accounts.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 330 Newer› Newest»Next time, give some notice before you are so confident your wonderful changes will be happily accepted by all.

Okay, so when is the next Reset? Oh and fix it.
Can't wait to see how the new rent impacts my daily income.
I liked somebody's suggestion about making the multiplier a square root. So like 25 million streets earn 5x income instead of 25x income on the green houses. Make sense?
But you probably won't implement that. And big streets take longer to fill and are subject to many hazards that take forever to demo.
Decrease the taxation on streets. Like 2% instead of 3% would be fair.
Great to see you're going to delete some accounts. But frankly, I hate how some players can just go under the radar and start a few new accounts to get chance cards to sabotage other players with. And the temptation is there.
twitchy_fingers
how about the bug where you can only select one building, then you have to refresh to select another? quite annoying...
Well guys thanks, for the explanation but it has put a real downer on the game. the result seams to be endless streets full of cheap houses. how does this reflect the games tag line? if anything it looks more like one big council estate!
wow this post is just lame.
I'm sure many of us were wondering how long it would take you to realize the game is fundamentally broken...

So your pretty much saying everyone in the game was cheating because they where being paid on rent values you all created? How much of a moronic statement is that lol
Everyone who became a trillionair while the rent values where high is alright you can keep you money and impossible lead, don't bother even selling anything because there is no way anyone can catch up to you now.
Thanks for destroying a perfectly good and fun game and blaming everyone who did nothing more then play by your rules a CHEATER!!!
Wow, no change in rent. I guess I read this post wrong.
So, my question is: Will we ever see a rent multiplier that is greater for larger streets again?
I certainly hope so, otherwise I'm bored of building grid buildings and I'm going to play something else.
Thanks for ruining the game.
You developers / managers (if there are any) have successfully alienated your userbase, and removed any confidence that you will not "change the rules" in the middle of the game once again.
Who complained about the increased rent returns? Anyone? There were plenty who complained about the rent reduction. Nice way to give the customer what they want.
Just take your ball (or in this case your gameboard) and go home.
I will not be playing anymore.
Now the more expensive buildings are worth so little that nobody would ever want to buy them. Why would I put the Monopoly tower when it only pays 5 millions and I could put a few other less expensive ones to equal the same amount and not spend anywhere near 100,000,000
"However , as a result, rental income on the most expensive streets grew exponentially."....duh, didn't you see this coming before you tinkered to make the game more "exciting"?
So much FAIL!
On a positive note, the game will be far less laggy as 3/4 of the population quits playing over the rent multiplier being normalised.
They don't even know the difference between cheating and playing within the rules they created. lolz. man its like mr. monopoly is complete moron.
God, what a pathetic response. Why would anyone who graciously held his tongue to hear your eagerly-awaited rebuttal still want to play this mess of a failed experiment? Why is the deletion of cheaters' accounts perpetually on your to-do list? Just DO IT and get it over with.
How can we be happy about your "game-balancing" when only the cheaters reaped the benefits of keeping their earnings.
This game is now about long streets full of green houses. Please explain to me why I would EVER spend the money for a $1m+ building. I'd rather build dozens of cheap green houses. They can't bulldoze them all! Unless you'd like to give the cheaters extra bulldozers so that they can, of course.
Cripes, have some integrity. If you were so 'confident' about this rule change, why did you slip it in under the cover of darkness? Why not shout it from the rooftops that you are 'fixing' things? Did you play-test this new balance system to make sure it works, or are you just going to re-write the rules if it doesn't?
I've finally had it with MCS (Yeah, I can't believe I made it this long, either). This is the least professional rollout I've ever seen. I've played tons of free games online, and none have been this pitiful. I don't even think I like Monopoly anymore. But if I ever play it again, I'll just do whatever the hell I want and tell the other players, "Rule change! Give me all your money, since I've been cheating the whole time. Trust me, it'll be better for all of us."
I think many of you need cheese with your "whine".
Yes we know there are issues with this Free Online game and just like with ANY game, INCLUDING board games at home, you can cheat and exploit. Mind you, if your playing with friends at home, you wouldn't typically do it, hey?
It is awesome the Monopoly Folks are making changes.
It's awesome that the rents will flucuate. It is kinda like real life ain't it?
If people get bored and leave, hey, more power to us. I admit, I'm losing interest to a degree but I'm being positive that the folks in charge will turf the cheaters and keep up with improvements. Awwwww.... all that work to create all those silly accounts to funnel money.. all gone... wasted to nothing... and your no longer a Monopoly Magnete. Time to find better things to destruct elsewhere.
Have a nice day everyone! :)
The people who were cheating weren't doing it by actually buying streets and building buildings...this wont fix anything it just screwed a bunch of people over.
I have another question. With the normalised rent, how are we going to be able to afford to buy a) more streets, b) bigger buildings c) pay taxes?
There's no insentive to buy more than 5 streets right now. There's no insentive to buy anything bigger than a grid building.
This really impacts the game dynamic and makes it pretty plain.
Oh! Please bring @monopolycitysts back online to answer questions or do some official tweeting. Thanks. :)
I'm amused reading these posts.
You guys who are say they are gonna quit and leave the game. I will bet my $87M street that most of you will continue to play anyway.
Face it, your hooked and hoping that the folks will improve the game over the next several days.
Feel free to discuss new strategies here.
http://monopolyhq.com
I'm really hoping the monopoly team deals with changes better going forward.
It was fun while it lasted!
Thanks for screwing up the game!
I QUIT ! ! ! ! ! !
@ Tapewormz --
Your worried over going back to a vanilla game? Change is good. I'm sure Obama would fully endorse changes in the game. Yeah, we got the exciting points and the not so exciting points.
Ya think Obama has checked this game out?
a big ****** you have made not giving us any information. Thank you very much, next time make another reset of the game without any notification! That would be amazing!
You should have thought of this BEFORE resetting the game, bunch of losers there @ hasbro! Now there are people with a "too big to ever catch up" advantage in cashflow making the game /dev/null worthy. Changing the rules in the middle of the game is like playing a match of baseball and saying in the middle of the game that homeruns don't count any more, lame! I Quit, the game had enough potential and this could have been avoided if you guys had the ability to think ahead...
@ Ivar --
I bet a couple of my streets that you will continue to play the game. Your just venting.
Yeah, it doesn't seem fair. But in reality, life isn't fair.
I am curious how long it will take for the CHEATERS to be removed from the Global Board. It would be nice to see at PAY TIME tonite changes in the Leader Boards!!!!!!!
:)
I find myself agreeing with a lot of the comments above.
With regards to cheaters, are you logging all activity with their accounts? As stated, many are not cheating via buying/building/selling.
While the rent values could become astronomical, in some ways that was better. Even if you're no where near the leaderboard, you may be able to afford a 20mil street and then jump up lots of places. Then someone will come along and hazard your street all over. I'm not saying it was ideal but the change you've implemented is not conducive to gameplay. This is like changing the mechanical components of a vehicle, while the vehicle is in motion.
"We did not take away any income from the past several days, but you will notice that starting at the most recent payday, you did receive reduced rents on your buildings."???????
So whoever received some hefty rent checks before you changed it, basically have the game in the bag. And your okay with that??? There is no way in hell any new account could ever catch up with them, and would have to be in 1st grade to think otherwise. So at first when people were having trouble logging on and playing, and you decided to reset to even the playing field. You turn around and leave the game playing with alot of players having and advantage that makes the original problem seem trivial at best???? So basically your saying that new accounts or anyone who didn't use that particular strategy gets screwed and starts with 3 mill if there lucky. lol But others start out with 100's of mill. Because as far as im concerned the game just restarted with many people having a clear advantage.
That's the dumbest thing have ever heard of in my Life!!!!
Better stick to making board games, no chance there to screw up in the middle of the game by changing stuff...
Wow, wtf? Seriously? Glad I wasted all that time building 193 buildings on a single street for a whole truckload of friggen nothing. Why would anyone bother with huge streets anymore if they are only going to pull in the same amount of money as 1M streets? GFG.
Discuss the changes now:
www.MonopolyCityStreetsSecrets.com
Well that was fun. I spent a very long time building up a huge street with a massive amount of rent to see it be barely equal to what I paid for the street.
To add insult to injury, a street worth a fraction of the cost is making almost the same amount of interest! Hurray!
Also... why did one of my streets get full rent before it went down, but my major street got screwed?
I was liking everything & the reset only bothered me a litle bit. Then you changed the rules again & really messed up my score. I am worth more then I should be worth & not making as much as I used to which is what your "normalized" again. Thank you for making a game not fun anymore. Looks like you made more problems than you intended to fix.
From a game creator view (I work for a game company) you don't know how to come out with a good game without pissing people off in the process. Stop changing the rules over & over again untill "resets" or something big before you do it without saying anything. Though I am not going to play anymore just thought I would put my two cents out there.
Good luck not alienating your audience.
Oh for goodness sake!
Is there any indication that they won't screw over honest players again? None.
Cities XL for me.
@the policeman
i imagine it would be pretty easy to find multiple accounts.. search the database for ones that have the same birthday, secret question answer and password.
If you're going to test beta software on people, you should let them know upfront. This changing rules and resetting the game constantly has not won future business from me. You can keep your 10% coupons.
HEY MR MONOPLY,
Once and for all time please answer the question everyone on here wants answered in stead of dancing around it and using smoke and mirrors to distract everyone.
The question:
IS HAVING MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT CHEATING?
A yes or no will do nicely. No need for long explanations. A simple header saying "Multiple accounts is (or isn't) cheating." And then taking action would go a very long way to restoring your credibility. As it stands now only the dumbest of the dumb believe anything you have to say.
I forgot to add: I'm sure if you guys try harder you can find more ways of screwing it up :)
I'll never buy another hasbro product again in my life, nor will I let any of my friends and family. This game has been nothing but a total fail from day one. I hope who ever was responsible for this game has already been fired. If anyone agrees with me e-mail all the contacts listed on the hasbro website.
I believe we already have figured out what happened and know the ramifications. What most of us are asking is for you to reconsider some of the recent changes. We do not need to be told about the changes after the fact.
You state that, "The incentive to buy bigger – and more expensive – streets remains overall, as those streets have more potential for development (and thus more rent) over the course of the game."
Hum. Really?
Is MCS supposed to be based on the Monopoly board game at all? In the real game of Monopoly (not to mention in the real world), the more expensive properties earn more rent per building type. That means a plastic "green" house on Pennsylvania Avenue will earn more rent than the same little, plastic "green" house on Virginia Avenue.
Thus, there is an incentive to purchase higher-valued properties or to trade up when you get the chance.
But, with these new rules, any building type on my M$20 million dollar street earns as much as the same building type on one of my streets that cost 1/4 as much. Is that an incentive? Just because I have more pylons I should jump for joy? If that is the case, why don’t you just sell pylons instead?
There needs to be a sufficiently scalable rental incentive otherwise most people will not bother purchasing a more expensive street just because there are more building slots. Why buy a longer street with more slots when the server lag in drawing out all those nice, orange pylons makes it almost impossible to build efficiently? Instead, of purchasing one M$20 million street, for the same money, you can buy 4 M$5 million streets and you will be able to build more quickly. Who cares about the extra tax if you go over 5 streets, the time saved in building is more than worth the extra cost.
Finally, also in the real Monopoly game, it costs more to build the same building type on a higher-valued street. This, once again, mirrors the real world where construction costs in a major city are often higher than in a smaller city.
So, how about actually playing the original, real game of Monopoly and using that as a model? Now, that is a novel idea!
@cestvrai
I'm not worried about the game going back to basics. Change is good yes, but taking a step backwards isn't progress.
In the game of monopoly some streets were more desireable than others for the simple fact that buying houses or hotels would earn you far greater rent. With the normalised rent, all the streets in the game might as well be oriental avenue.
@mr-tom
Yeah, I want to try Cities XL also. It looks really neat.
Surprise Surprise! Another post about deleting cheaters accounts with nothing actually being done. Do you think anyone actually believes this bullshit?
@Julesmarie You've got to be kidding right?
Just because they ask for a dob, secret question etc, who's going to give the same one for each account? No - you'd just keep a list of what you'd made up.
Trust me on this - a big multiaccounter (blatant) can be spotted, but people who've flirted with it are no different to a few housemates who've traded together - how can they tell the difference?
So the next step goes one of two ways:
1 They only kill off the most blatant, in which case they've fixed nothing
2 They kill off everything that's potentially suspect, which let's be honest is a bit like killing all Saudis in the hope of bagging Osama Bin Laden
The far better bet would be to fix the flipping exploits and then reset
Meh. Just sold my streets back. Would close my account if I could, just to send the message that I don't care for unannounced rule changes.

I was willing to let countless hours go to waste on the first reset to perfect my strategy.
I was willing to play in the beginning when the game was laggy due to insufficient servers.
I was willing to play when the reset happened and rebuild my fortune.
I was even willing to play again today, even after rent had decreased.
However, I am not wanting to play again due to the fact that cheaters ARE still in the game. You are a broken record already, just do it, don't keep saying, we will do it, we will do it, we will do it. We don't want empty promises!
I am ALSO not wanting to play due to the EXTREME lag time it takes to build ONE building. I mean really now... Are we back in 1997 with 56k?
BUG REPORT:
Building one single bonus building on a street with e.g. 7 interruptors is all you need to let the cash flow again

mr monopoly has to delete its account because he is the biggest cheater in this game, changing rules because of low IQ of making inefficient analysis...
Just F A I L
nothing more.
kthxbye
What about realism ?
Why little street in downtown would have cheaper rent than HUGE country road ? (where we are not supposed to build giant skycraper :°)
The reduced or capped rental income is the biggest crap! Before the game has made such a joke!
I do not understand how a company like Hasbro, which is just about to lose an image, so random and stupid, running through the area.
THE GAME HAS MADE ME WITH THE OLD FURNITURE AND MORE 100X FUN!
THERE IS A REASON TO NOT play!
GO ME!
The players who didn't get any of the 100,000,000 rents yet will NOT catch up within a week. The only way they can catch up is:
You throw all the cheaters out of the game so that the legit rich players appear in the leaderboard. Then they will be demolished and hazarded and either sell their streets and rebuild with lower value or stay and do nothing. The latter will allow people to catch up eventually, but not within a week. The former obviously works quicker.
The rent increase was NOT exponential. It was way higher than that. Probably in the e^(x^2) range. Now it is exponential, but slowed down by big negative chance cards. Which is a good thing if people don't get turned off by -10,000,000 cards.
To all those complaining that the game is all about cheap buildings on long roads:
More expensive buildings on cheaper roads will yield the same value per money spent as you can save a lot of money if you don't need so much space for buildings.
Also, with the high value negative chance cards it is extremely bad to only build green houses. You only raise your chances of recieving a -10,000,000 card. Building less expensive buildings will lead to much more income unless you are either extremely lucky and build green houses without negative cards or extremely unlucky and build expensive buildings and still get negative cards.
Also, once you have 20 streets full of green houses you will switch to more expensive ones as addtional streets will reduce your income more than they could increase it.
What you need to fix is: Make the small streets more attractive. They are still useless, especially because of the stupid tax system.
Make the long streets slightly better. The square root suggestion should work out well.
Fix the damn code. Memory leaks and useless calculations are ridiculous. I don't know what language you are using, but I assume that it is managed. Memory leaks in managed languages are a shame.
Also, the search interface must be improved. You should be able to access a street card right from the search menu instead of just being centered somewhere near the street and spending hours looking for the spot where you can buy it - if you can buy it at all.
The building interface must also be improved. Remove the useless cone calculations outside the players view. Once you select a building to place, you should be able to place the same building without selecting it from the list again, and only return to the list of buildings once you hit some cancel button.
Don't recenter on the street after each chance card. Recenter at the location where you recieved the chance card.
Improve this crappy text editor. It's a joke. Even DOS had a better interface.
YEAH!
WHAT IS THE POINT OF BUYING THOSE EXPENSIVE STREET MR MONOPOLY IS HOLDING RIGHT NOW?
THEY ARE FREAKING SHORT, WHY DON'T WE JUST BUY A LONG STREET THAT WE CAN FILL MORE BUILDINGS.
You sell all the similar building around the world has the same rent?
They DON'T!!
Think before you actually do your moves.
STUPID GAMEHOST
Okay, next up is going for cheaters.... that's good, here's a few. Over the past days I've seen coordinated attacks from accounts:
Janneke1
Janneke2
Janneke3
Mr Aap
Mr Aap2
WZ2
WZ5
Somehow that does not seem coincidental :)
It appears that this whole experiment has been nothing but a viral marketing ploy by the creators of CitiesXL...am I wrong?
We should be able to buy multiple houses at a time instead of just one at a time.
DONTMESSWITHME
DONTMESSWITHME1
DONTMESSWITHME2
These three accounts have been striking me this past week. Endless buildings demolished, more than 3 hazards placed on my streets a day. It's obvious that it's the same person behind the accounts and they are not playing fair. Ban them all. Even though this activity is not explicitly defined as unacceptable in the poorly written rules, in my eyes, it is unacceptable behavior and needs to be stopped.
Dear Monopoly,
This changed completely changes the core dominant strategy of Monopoly City Streets from Day 1 of the relaunch. I built my entire strategy based on the new multiplier. The longer streets became valuable because of the formula. Now, it is not in the best interest of the game to have streets much more than $1 million dollars. Your change completely changed the game and I think the damage done to my strategy is so bad that I could never recover in gameplay. Prudence here would say that changing rules like this necessitate a full reset. You will alienate your players if you continue to do things as such.
Also, I disagree that this will level the playing field over time. It will not. All it will do is continue the discrepancy of those who were able to advantage themselves of the multiplier effect early on.
@Björn Eberhardt
That's not a bug. It's always worked that way.
there needs to be some changes about the tax. why not having compound interest. so the first street is 3% and the second street is 3% + 3% of 3% and so on. on the way it is right now the game makes no sense because no one can ever own a city or similar.
LOL
So you are saying I was exploiting the game by selling my property and buying bigger streets?
That wasn't exploitation, that was strategy. It didn't work though because you keep changing the rule without saying anything ahead of time.
I really tried to like this game but you did everything you could to ruin it.
I give up.
Everyone in my family just sold all their streets back to the bank. We're done playing a game in which the rules can be so arbitrarily changed without warning, and there's no point in continuing when the possibility of a reset looms. We never wanted to be global property moguls, we just wanted to have fun playing against each other, now there's not even any fun in that.
If you want some long, expensive streets to buy there are now several available in Sarasota FL:
Bee Ridge Rd
Cattlemen Rd
Palmer Blvd
Clark Rd
Fruitville Rd
Porter Rd
Sugar Bowl Rd
FYI: Sugar Bowl Rd is an extension of Clark Rd (aka St Rd 72). This road runs across the state. After Sugar Bowl you can also buy two more extensions to St Rd 72, one for $9,211,000 and one for $8,199,000.
Don't worry, this isn't bait so we can sabotage you, we are so over this game.
The unofficial MONOPOLY CITY STREETS Forun:
http://monopolyking.com/
Complaints++
But I guess to be more specific, I'm with everyone who agrees that the higher rent actually gave the game some excitement. I could make an investment and see a gain within a day! Rather than investing and having to wait multiple turns before I get my initial investment back.
Now I know, changing the rent back to the way it was WOULD be making another rule change in the middle of the game. But since that idea's out the window anyway, you might as well listen to what the PLAYERS are saying.
Just for the unlikely case that someone in development actually reads player ideas - if that square root thing is still too high for you, how about addressing two of the main complaints: High value streets and high value buildings being worth too little:
You apply the multiplier with the square root, but cap the rent per building at the building value.
This means a street just over $4M could now support a Cubic Quarters with full rent - $2M payoff on a $2M building. The Spear End summit would need ato be on a $16M street to be on par with the green house. Hips Plaza on a $25M. And for one of the really big buildings, you'd need streets far in excess of $50M.
Net result - the game would feel like Monopoly, rewarding BIG BUILDINGS on EXPENSIVE STREETS. Like a Hotel on Boardwalk, get it? If any of the developers actually ever experienced that thrilling feeling, that is :)
LOL Next they are going after the cheaters. To go after the cheaters you have to define what cheating is. Please don't patronize us. Its obvious to everyone your not smart enough to figure out who's cheating. A 5 year old child can look at the leader board and at least figure out who 10 of them are.
You can gold plate a steaming pile of crap, but its still a pile of crap.
Interesting point about ALL the comments in this latest blog post is that all of them are in agreement about one thing - this has just become ridiculous FOR REAL. This is an achievement in its own right.
I just wanted to have some fun. Instead:
No rules...
No announcements of rule changes (which were not stated anywhere to begin with)...
No proper communication...
No actions on the real problems, just promises, promises...
Sometimes I wonder if whoever created this mess is even aware of the extent of their failure.
I read this blog, I've read the FAQ, and yet I'm learning something new every day about stuff that I didn't expect to happen. Now I hear more expensive streets are having multiplier on their income? WTF? Am I supposed to follow twitter to learn that? And sorry, I'm not so full of **** and don't have an eternity a day to even attempt that!
I thought this was a game created by a credible company. Ok, moving on... You weren't on my investment list, anyway, Hasbro. Just please tell me Google doesn't have anything to do with this, coz I have great respect for that company. Thank you...
Oh yeah, I won't quit just yet - I'll sign in occasionally to get some more good laugh about this joke of a product... I was leading my national ranking before the reset, but after that, c'mon... Global ranks - Cheater #1, 2, 3, etc, literally. Some kid from my neighborhood even bothered to download a script or two and we finally have a billionaire in our tiny country :)
Everyone, have a life, really :D
@ hank
Thank you, they wont answer that question because answering it would be admiting failure.
I buy a street build on it. It tells me rent will be around 25,000,000 then the next day I get 11,000,000 in my world this is called lying real good image builder Hasbro.
So what you are saying that those of us who were patient during your reboot then super excited about the prospect of making a ton of money building on these higher priced streets and spend hours of their time fighting your SLOW game to search out and build on said streets and were playing by the rules then YOU CHANGE THE RULES and expect us to be fine with that.
I CALL SHENANIGANS!!!!
The tax structure is stupid and this is the final straw. I for one and not going to play your game anymore.
This is ridiculous, I don't know if I'm going to play anymore, you've basically just called everyone who plays cheaters, because of a rule that you changed and brought in!?
What you say is rubbish, making this change won't bridge the gaps between the rich and the poor on the game, the rich will have a lot of money, and will be getting less, whilst the poor won't have much money and will now be getting even less, how does that work!?
I'd like to end on one point, when the game started it was really fun, and I enjoyed finding really long roads to build on so that the property was worth a lot, and now you've ruined it.
Is the next reset scheduled? It takes no sense to launch a strategy board game (well, Monopoly and also City Streets is about strategy, planning and business) and on-the-fly change the parameters and the rules. It takes no sense that for a few days it is allowed for a few players to collect hundreds of millions of Monopoly-money, and for those who joined later, this option is closed by now. It takes no sense to promise a better game speed, if the game is inherently server-time consuming, because one have to build every green house one-by-one with 4 clicks. And of course, players with 100 millions wants to place a huge number of green houses. Because the streets are loooong, and the rent of bigger houses are nuts. It takes no sense to improve the gameplay, as long as you don't realize, that the street pricing is inherently wrong, because the popular streets are short and cheep with little rent for the houses too, while the motorways in the middle of nowhere are still the cash-cows. And so on.
@ the game developers
I sure hope Hasbro put a performance clause in your contract, because if they did you might then understand why people are upset about getting a lot less income than was expected for the work they did.

@The Policeman, In case you have not noticed this game is not in Beta. I know it seems like it based on the huge number of mistakes and I can totally understand why you would assume such.
No sadly they did not follow the Beta track which would be the professional way to test a game of this magnitude.
Mr. Monops you suck!
6p00e54fcb6e228833 mentioned what might be the best idea in this thread: Higher building prices for more expensive streets. That would have gone well with a square-root multiplier. It's also how the original Monopoly was designed.
It solves nearly all of the problems, and ensure that we don't all grow bored or develop carpel tunnel syndrome from placing hundreds of green houses later on.
This is stupid, now not only do the cheaters have billions (trillions?), we playing legitimately have not only no money, we have diminished means to make money. I quit.
This would have been nice to know in advance, I was going to make 17m today but all I got was 6m...
Well I am confused now. How are you suppose to win this game? If you own more than 30 streets or something you are taxed 100% and will make no money.
Is this game suppose to last forever?
pathetic
MORONOPOLY IS OVER FOR ME
I quit playing. You should too. Seriously. Stop playing this pathetic excuse for a game.
I have a street worth $57m. You say that I can build more green houses on it and therefore I will earn more rent. I CANT, your stupid rendering of those cones for all available space overwhelms both IE8 and Chrome. Even if I build $500k buildings which use a 10th of the cones (at only 90% rent) it still takes up to 1.5 minutes per build. You then get stupid $100k bonus cards that take you back to the centre. As for fines, the best (sic) I have had was for $127,411,000 the best bonus was for $500k. That's well balanced!
I have 4gb ram and my internet connection averages 3.9 Mbps
We, as a household are stopping playing as there is no longer any similarity to the original board game and all the fun has been squeezed. You should have seen my teenager’s face when he saw $29m show up this morning instead of the expected $321m, he thinks that YOU CHEATED HIM.
When you do sort the cheaters out you had better bear in mind all the households with a shared computer / connection.
Only marketing people could spin this change to make out that it was what players were asking for and that it will sort out cheating.
This game is a disaster,
if this is an open-source game made by volunteer students, you have my respect and I encourage you in your project, otherwise, if some company is paying a bunch of amateurs for this crap, it is a BIG WASTE of money!
I quit !
I am amazed by the huge number of whiners and babies who play this game. I hope they are all Europeans but I fear that most are over-coddled Americans.
So they changed the rules. Big deal. Change your strategy. Or better yet just quit like you threaten too and leave the game to the real adults and mature kids. NO ONE WILL MISS YOU. BYE-BYE. Go on. Go. Leave. Yes you.
If you don't take away the past days income, we never reach the wealth of someone who have already billions. They will just sit, and laugh.
You are unfair.
Stork you are stupid.
WHAT IS GOING ON? 3 tax card that gazumped half of my money totaled around 26million.
Before i thought downgrading the rental is ok, i can get on with it.Today 3 bad card in 14 tries is just too much.........
I have to say it really ruined my game. I m quiting this game, and i hope the developing team are happy with their work.
Good Riddance
Stork you are a typical puppet. You will nod for everything.
Dana Perino, is that you? Or Scott McClellan?
Mr. Monopoly apparently subscribes to the tone-deaf exceptionalist manifest destiny admit-no-fault unless it's a minor omission that's actually your fault not mine school of PR management that many White House press secretaries subscribe to.
Mr. Monopoly and co didn't realize that the rents would be exponential, and actually they're just the poor innocent victims in this, and the rest of us are at fault for using it as strategy? Oh really!
Come on. That was part of the design, to dovetail with the tax. It actually was a fun twist. Sure it was probably excessive, but it made perfect sense. Nope, nope you were the innocent victims here, and were justified pulling the rabbit out of the hat without any notice of any kind.
In fact it almost seems like the only reason you commented on the change at all (because any player who hasn't noticed it yet is probably brain dead) is to cover up the previous thread of 800 and counting almost uniformly negative comments. I'm sure you know that for every person that comments, usually 5-10 other people feel the same way. You'd know this because you're in PR. Right?
And once again you're going to go after the cheaters. No shit? I'm curious, does your town police chief regularly make public announcements about how all the criminals in town are on notice that he's coming for them, this time he pinky swears, and oh by the way, could all the murderers, rapists and thieves please meet up in front of the police station tomorrow at noon so that he can arrest them all?
This could've been a great game. Frankly if you took the time to listen to the players a little, it could still be a great game. I mean what idiot wouldn't be interested in playing a worldwide game of monopoly set on the world's map? Well that initial impulse will only get you so far. I personally have better things to do than continue to be your unpaid guinea pig.
I would've continued to tolerate the nonsense if you'd just had the foresight to be humble, apologetic and honest about your problems and ongoing development, took the time to listen to user comments, and slapped a beta tag on the game. Google does that, and they have the best most accomplished minds in the world working for them. I don't think it's below you to do what a proven success juggernaut like Google does.
Oh god, what's the use. Everybody knows you people are not reading this blog. A smart company would get at least an unpaid intern to read user comments and take notes, and take the pulse of public opinion. Well we know you're not that kind of company evidently.
the most disappointing thing here is the potential the idea has. the failure to deliver a playable game is sad.
fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice.. yup I was a sucker to return after the reset and I paid for it along with the rest of the players. You won't fool me a third time, mr moronopoly!
Totally pointless.. whats the point of haveing a 10-15 mil building if it only earns you 1-2 mil in rent ... you`v made a slighly interesting game boreing and useless, if i was hasbro i would want nothing to do with this second rate attempt at what could have been a great idea if thought out properly.
Prediction time...
Someone (prob Google) release GSC (or whatever) that works properly in a few months
aaron said, "Today 3 bad card in 14 tries is just too much"
Okay, how are people getting so many Chance Cards. This morning, I put up 25 buildings and only received one Chance Card. This is worse than the usual ratio, which based on my experience is, about one Chance Card for every 10-12 buildings.
In fact, in all my building--I've put up about 60 buildings--I have only received 2 bonus cards. How am I supposed to properly protect my assets if I don't get the same opportunities as others? One bonus building per street is not sufficient protection.
Does the algorithm somehow favor one OS platform and browser over others? Is Mr. Monopoly actually Bill Gates or Michael Dell?
@Stork
The problem is that without a rent multiplier, this game has essentially been reduced to tic-tac-toe in terms of strategy. The majority of people will be doing the same thing resulting in a very dull game.
This game was really exciting when there was a rent multiplier. I couldn't wait to log in the next day to collect the rent and upgrade my buildings. I was a little dissapointed when I logged in yesterday.
I hope a rent multiplier is reintroduced, even if it's tweaked. There needs to be insentive for buying big streets other than populating them with level 1 or 2 buildings.
@ EVERYONE
I know most won't agree with my comments on some of your posts but the one thing we will all agree on is to disagree on most everything...but here goes
@ Justin
how about the bug where you can only select one building, then you have to refresh to select another
you are using Internet Explorer aren't you I know I had the same problem best way to fix this problem is download Google Chrome or another browser like firefox but chrome is faster and a lot smaller and very stable.
@ Jesse
To keep from paying taxes you need to have 5 or less propertys so after you fill your roads with green houses start selling them back and buy bigger houses your rent increases kind of like the real board game is where you have to buy houses before you can buy a hotel.
@ cestvrai
I think many of you need cheese with your "whine".
some crackers also I AGREE
And of course they will still play cestvrai! and keep right on whining.
@ 2screwed
The question:
IS HAVING MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT CHEATING?
I Completely agree that is probly the one question everybody wants a answer to and it should be answered before they deleting accounts give the players that have 2 or 3 accounts but play them independitly of each other.
@ The Policeman
YET, THE #1 GLOBAL LEADER "CHEATER NO3" STILL EXISTS!
They said:Next up in the quest to combat cheaters: deletion of accounts.
I bet we will see that begin very soon.
@ 2screwed
LOL Next they are going after the cheaters. To go after the cheaters you have to define what cheating is. Please don't patronize us.
Some of the cheaters will be easy to find and I for one hope the first ones booted out of game are the ones using hacks (like running a script to gain money and ranking) others that use the same name and add a number should be second. But unless they come right out and say multi accounts are not allowed they need to be careful not to punish people with a couple accounts that never interact with each other.
Do any here think maybe they never answer any posts on these forums because all everybody does is BITCH??? Like others I could say I am done with this I won't play the game I won't post ever again!!! BUT GUESS WHAT Thats NOT going to happen I love reading all the pathetic posts from pathetic people makes me realize how good my life out side this game is.
GOOD JOB TO THE DEVELOPERS
not bad for your first try at a game of this size and good luck fixing the glitches I look forward to a good game of MONOPOLY ONLINE
this has been a test, it was only a test.
had this been an actual game, the developers would have used some common sense and the management would have communicated with the players before making game changing rules.
thank you, this has been a test of the hasbro advertising system.
Apology not accepted. Try something else.
This is equivalent to Activision/Blizzard Entertainment getting rid of the 'Threat' dynamic with a hotfix without notifying players.
No in-game dynamic changes should be made without notifying players. You don't have to ask us, because we're not paying, but you DO have to tell us if a change is made.
Has Mr M finally started deleting cheaters?
I notice that 'CHEATER NO 2' is no longer on the leader-board...
All the others are still there.
Way to go! That'll show them!
This game is terribly flawed. I play at 7 pm one night. The next day I play at 3 pm and I get no new rent. But technically, it's two different days. You can't seriously believe people can revolve their lives around a hard 24 hour countdown window. That just sucks.
Here's my suggestion. Base all gamer clocks on one global timezone. Rather than a 24 hour countdown from the last login.
I am so frustrated at this sham now!
The game is not even worth playin now, you refuse to remove the cheaters instead u just give some lame excuse that you are going to do something about it. Why alienate all you decent players and still keep the cheaters?
Why spend so much time and money increasing your infrastructure then resetting, then making a stupid decision that will end up back firing and losing all the extra people that you originally failed to anticipate.
Good 1, i think its best to leave this game to the cheaters now and wont have to waste an hour of my day playin this rubbish...
I don't know why people are complaining about "cheaters". I think they're doing a great job of drawing attention to just how useless the developers are at running this circus.
@knightshade
you have an impressive tolerance for failure.
keep playing, lets see how much you can take.
can't wait to see Mr Moronopoly's next move.
glad it won't effect me.
Wow a lot of bitter people here.
For those saying they thought the rent being out of wack was the cheating, they werne't. They are refering to multiple accounts passing off money to the main account.
@Original Actually, you get paid every day at midnight GMT. Don't know where you live, but it sounds like somewhere in the -5 to -8 time zones.
I have an over 100 million account at MCS. Placed 100 building today, receiving no fines. My wife had only 30 million cash, and received 3 fines by placing 30 buildings. More than the half of her cash disappeared. For example when she had still 12M, received a chance card with minus 8M! Is it about luck, or maybe another misconfigured stupid calculation scheme takes the blame?
@ Aaron
you have an impressive tolerance for failure.
Thank You tolerance is something I have developed in real life my job requires it as a service tech helping people and if you ever decide to give it a try you may even find it rewarding at times. Also a little kindness goes a lot farther than hatred.
On another point hatred is what has gotten this world where it is today. Kind of a bleak future for our children WAR AND BLOOD SHED ain't it great
Let's vote for the next RESET!
@morpet
I think that there's a random chance that you will get a Chance card everytime you buy something.
That's why my strategy was going to be to spend all my bankroll on high level buildings as quickly as I could. I'd spend my money and keep a few million in the bank till the following day, just incase I needed to try and rid my property of a few hazzards.
@ Liam - no I don't think they've started removing cheaters yet.
Having read a message board earlier today, I discovered that they're thinking of rigging the global top 10 with new accounts so that it reads something like:
-----
Mr
Monopoly
Totally
Sucks
(Three letter word for bum, begins with A)
-----
Epic
Fail
You
Loser
Or something to that effect.
You've got to admire their imagination.
@cestvrai: I'm willing to bet all my streets that you won't sell your streets just because I'm not playing anymore. You're the one who's making claims you're not willing to back up with actions. C'est vrai.
If you're playing a board game at home, you'll do whatever you can to win the game, based on the rules. That's the whole point. If the folks you're playing with suddenly decide on a new set of rules just because they don't like how things are going, the game is no fun for anyone, and you're not going to want to keep playing with them. Voila, mon "whine."
By the way, just to help explain how long streets are still valuable, and why the tax system makes sense: Since there's a tax on any streets above 5, having a handful of really large streets (with room to put lots of buildings on them) is really the only way to make a lot of money in the long run. It actually makes sense, because if just a handful of players owned all the streets in the game, nobody would want to play. But if everybody can own a handful of streets and compete with one another, then everybody can still enjoy playing.
The problem is not so much with the rent rules being set as they are: the problem is with (1) changing the rules mid-game, (2) doing it in such a way that punishes people who took time to think about their strategies, and (3) not telling people about it ahead of time. And even though they probably didn't mean it that way, this post made it sound like this action was a step in combating cheaters, implying that the people who were affected by it were part of the cheating problem. Meanwhile, even the easiest steps they could take to combat the most blatant cheating (wiping out any account with over 1 billion dollars) seem completely beyond their capacity.
The reason we're all being so whiny about this is that we could have really enjoyed playing this game, and a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into figuring out the best way to legitimately make as much money as they could. It was a really neat idea, with a lot of potential, and we're just all really, really disappointed to see it utterly fail to meet our expectations.
MCDONALDS AND YOU....This ladies and gentleman was the first year of a great game concept and idea. Yes, it has been a folly of sorts, but, I beleive you are going to see this game being played every year 3 months before the Christmas shopping season (to get the word Monopoly) on Christmas shoppers list of items to buy. Remember, this is NOT hasbro's first TouchDown in Marketing 101. In 1989ish, they released Monopoly to McDonalds and 20 years later, they still play it every year and now they have scored a Hail Mary with this concept. You and I's suffering throught this first year release of the game will be long forgotten and this game will be played every year until our deaths. It really is an ingenious move by Hasbros' Marketing department. Now they will have the Online game and the McDonalds game every year to pump up their Christmas Sales. And the cost to them for this Online game will be a drop in the bucket compared to their investment in the McDonalds campaign.
Thats my story and Im sticking to it.
Fries with that sir?
Oh and before anybody thinks that I've spoiled the surprise - I've not. They're being very open about their plans and they don't seem to think Mr Monopoly is competent enough to stop them.
I'm inclined to agree.
If you are looking for another game to switch to, consider this :
http://apps.facebook.com/battlestations/new.php?invite=ChiChing
First, the rent increase was NOT exploited. It was your poor planning and lack of thinking.
The increase in rent was part of the game, not a bug that people were exploiting.
Stop making it out that players were the issue instead of your poor management and design.
Yes rules do need to be better thought out and stuck to afterwards after all we have to put up with the governments around the world changing the rules to meet there needs at the time this is a game and we the players should have a clear well defines set of rules that do not change. Aaron That does not mean I need be intolerant of the developers it just means that there was a over sight in the game and we all make mistakes which is only human as long as they learn from those mistakes all is good.

So you're saying that those of us who are legitimate players and had good strategy are CHEATERS???!! That's essentially what you are saying when you state that we were "exploiting" the game.
You cannot be serious.
Anyone who paid attention realized that more expensive streets produced higher rental incomes. That is NOT cheating, it is called STRATEGY!
Changing the game did not "level the playing field." All it did was penalize players with good strategy and gave an unfair advantage to those who were not upgrading their streets. That, IMO, made the playing field unlevel by benefitting only certain players.
How about all the millions of dollars that many of us lost to the bank when we sold our assets, at half price, in order to be able to upgrade? Will Mr. Monopoly be returning our fully developed streets?
And I cannot believe your team felt it more important to take action against legitimate players before taking action against cheaters.
If you really want to level the playing field then you need to reset the game again.
Lame.
If you make significant changes then let everyone know about it before hand. You couldn't even be bothered responding promptly when everyone started complaining (or did this just fall into any publicity is good publicity).
Before you release a game, at least you should have thought through some of this stuff. This game is an alpha release at best.
Now the strategy to play the game is completely changed, there are still multi-account players out there, and people playing within your rules have wasted significant time.

How do you put a photo on your post? I just went to my google profiel and put a image. I wonder if that will work. Is that how you did it?
Well, that didnt work. I still have that little orange Cincinnati Bengels "B"
I haven't read through all the comments, so maybe this has been raised.
There are a limited number of high-value streets. Those fortunate enough to get their mitts on them will be able to earn tax-free income while those who have had to buy a greater number of less-expensive streets will be paying taxes.
Because of this, there will be no incentive for players to make trades involving smaller streets, even if there is cash involved.
Hope something can be done about this.
I like the quote form the post: "As promised, we have been working to combat foul play in the game and have begun correcting anomalies which have been used by a few to inflate their MONOPOLY City Streets coffers."
"Correcting anomolies" = Changing the rent multiplier that we created which while benefitting honest players made the cheaters evern more profitable that the old system
I love the word anomolies too. Its actually spelled "anomalies" blog team and it's definition means the "strange and unexplained"
So would anyone on the Dev team care to help me understand how a rent multiplier that YOU DEVELOPED, then decided was a bad idea without warning your "valued players," is defined as "strange and unexplained?"
I think as a developer you need to focus on two things.
1) Bug free gaming - work to fix problems
2) Game FUNCTION improvements -- and when I say function I dont mean "random game rule changes we think will work" I mean how can we improve the features of gameplay that we created..
here are some ideas: street search opening street cards, click on an unbought street brings up the street card if available, improved user interface, more than 10 friends... or read any of the user feedback you are getting. Maybe you should set up a simple feedback forum!!!
Bug reporting,
Ideas,
Suspected Malice Activity
ANYTHING.
Im done. Probably not going to have this read.
WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS?!!
I think you meant to say "Who is responsible for this?"
i have a problem!
two people demolish and sabotage my buildings and streets every time i put or buy new stuff.
i'm pretty much reporting them by telling you guys this. can you remove them? i'll tell you the users tomorrow if they do it again.
please remove them!
Yes Brett! We are on it! What else would you like? How about a snack?...a sandwich?...you hungry?
Hi Brett. Suggest you join an alliance or something. Visit http://www.mymonopolycitystreets.com/viewforum.php?f=13&sid=1e60a6bdf872788a2290c6254f741ca6 for a list of alliances that you can join.
If you started the battle with these guys then you'll not receive any help because this is your fault, but if they started it, you ought to be able to get them stomped on.
If you want a further recommendation, try the alliance called GAME.
@xslingerx - I can understand the aggression directed against Hasbro - it is warranted, but I'm not sure that it is appropriate to be nasty to fellow players who asked a pretty straightforward question.
Comrades, I can't help but think that the problems in this game are caused by the ability to own private property and exploit the workers in the form of rent payments.
Abolishing the right to own private property and switching to a system of common ownership would, I think, be to everyone's benefit.
Simples.
please stop asking for any support of hasbro, for them we're less than any pixel on their screen.
I repeat:
WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS?!!
And no, I meant what I said, but thanks anyway.
I want to take the chance to say thankyou for giving us this game in the first place, I've enjoyed it, and am still enjoying it :)
I was frustrated at the change in tactics i had to make, and almost quit playing, but i didn't.
I hate that you have to put up with people complaining. The game's free, and we have no rights at all to demand anything! I love the fact that it's a good, free game. So Thankyou :)
Pointless change.
I have to say that im embarrassed for this game team project. The idea of monopoly online game was really nice at first but now i just can see a huge fiasco.
Can anyone help?
I made an offer for a street, offering one of my streets as a trade. I'm pretty sure the other player has stopped playing as I made this offer a few days ago with no response. Obviously I can't retract the offer (clearly a section of code which is much too difficult to write) so do I have to wait the whole two weeks before this person's streets are all sold to the bank?
Seems insane to me that I have a street completely out of order just because I offered it in a trade...
I bet there's nothing I can do :(
Is having more than one account cheating? Of course it is. When you are playing the board game monopoly would you ask if it's cheating if you had 2 tokens?
I guess the lesson we all have to learn here is that just like in real life, people will cheat to as long as they get more money.
It's sad.
As for the people complaining about the large fines you get, I would like to share my tale of woe.
Got my rent, 20-some million after having maybe 150,000 left from the day before, I build one street and I see this:
CHANCE
One of your buildings didn't have
the correct planning permissions. Pay
a fine of M$0. And get rid of your
property lawyer.
Took me three read throughs before I figured out what was wrong.
Rare or glitch? Probably but apparently you can bribe your way out of fines in this game ;)
Hey, if you are going to lower rent then why don't you lower the amount of taxes the random chance cards can rape us for? Two days in a row I have had at least one half of my liquid assets plundered.
I just love how the cheaters are doing just fine, but all the players that are playing FAIRLY are being punished.
xslingerx i dont need your help!
You know what's funny? It seems that the fault is ours. The first day I bought a street, and rents were actually high. That, to me, it was precisely because the street is good, expensive and well located. The few who were inflating their coffers has nothing to do with it. If you thought this was an error, then it should not have been done.
I honestly do not excuse you for not having done any warning, it was a gigantic mistake. At least you should have left the rent be paid in the normal days and then, with a warning,
report that would change these values.
I felt screwed, because I thought it was something normal game and not an anomaly that you have set. Anyway, once again we see that the thing goes from bad to worse ...
Just lost 14 millions... It isn't nice!
mr-tom they started it not me so im trying my best =) thx for the help
Wow, you guys are really screwing up this thing more and more as time goes on aren't you? First you reset the game where cheaters over run the game. Now you adjust rent when people don't want that adjustment, they just want the cheaters gone.
How about you just do what you said you were going to do and get rid of the cheaters all ready. The cheaters are mocking you guys running this thing like the idiots you are proving to be. I am sorry for being a jerk, but I was raised to be an honest person. Very blatantly so too, because that seems to be the way most people actually take it to heart.
ONE of the most basic strategy in the original monopoly is that YOU WANT TO HAVE THE MOST EXPENSIVE STREET so that went somebody is on it you are going to receive MORE MONEY.
YOU GENIUS TELL ME:
Why SHOULD I Want to have Wall Street Ave. for 1,000,000,000 IF THE RENT is the same one as one that cost 1,000,000

Hopefully the global and national leaderboards will look a little more normal after you delete some accounts. Could you PLEASE however, find a way so that local leaderboards aren't a gank fest. GOGZ just took over leader for my local area, from Midgitmusic, Midgit's roads don't have much left except for hazards. The leaderboard updated 1 hour, 25 minutes ago, all GOGZ streets HAD bonus buildings, they now ALL have hazards and several of his biggest buildings have been bulldozed.
The way it is atm, its a punishment to be in first place (at least not without cheating), everyone just gangs up on you. There needs to be some sort of limit to how many times you can be bulldozed and hazarded in a day.
I'm sitting 6th atm, with yesterday's crippled leaders in 3,4,5. After rank 1 and 2 get smacked around, I'm up for leader tomorrow, this is gonna hurt...
is this a joke?
because my 5,000,000 buildings improve my rent only in 1,300,000
why my simple GREEN HOUSEs give me the same value and the expensive buildings give me low rents?
Is really for make us interesting on expensive buildings? ...
Oh man. This is just crazy. I'm tired of wasting my time trying to figure out this game. Write of some rules about how the game works then stick to them.
Then let us all know when the game is out of beta so we know we aren't just wasting our time!
This has all but destroyed the game for me. Before, I could be on the leaderboard by buying the right street, building on it to get good rent, and maintaining the street. Just because people didn't think to buy longer streets doesn't mean they won't at some point, and it doesn't separate everyone that much. They can get there just as fast as us by finding that one right street.
Also, the lack of notification was horrific, one day I log on to find I made $50 million LESS then what I expected. One top of that, due to the change only a few days in, I'm currently on the leaderboard with only 4 streets, and everyone is tearing apart me streets and destroying buildings. I don't have the income to support the constant disasters coming my way because you practically stole millions from my account.
What you did was force people to know pursue the same style of play the cheaters are using of buying and selling without hardly any development.
Thanks for stifling creative playing and forcing people into what YOU think we should be doing. That shouldn't be how a game like this runs.
In closing, two things:
1st) I was highly offended by this post when you said "which some have exploited in their quest to become a real estate mogul." How can we EXPLOIT a FEATURE of the game? You put it in, we used it, and then you pull it out calling us exploiters and cheaters. That is ABSURD.
2nd) How about you just reduce the amount the street value affects the rent of the houses. Before a $2.5 mil street let you build an almost 3 million dollar building with 100% return in rent. Why not make it less steep. I don't think its fair to buy a 3 million dollar street and get the same return on houses that a 500k street would give. Why would you waste money on making yourself an easier target by having just one street?
If you want your players to stay with you, you need to give them what they want, not what you want. Sure, we were getting money more then you wanted, but with so many streets, and the number of players, it'd increase to a more interesting stage of play where almost every street is taken and now its a game of trading and buying. After a while you can just do a reset and start over. That would be like... oh, I don't know, your very own board games? When the game is over you start again?
Be careful how you treat the people that have been loyally testing and waiting for your game. You might just lose everything you've worked for.
Dear Mr Monopoly. Removing the CHEATS must be a real tough time consuming job. With names like CHEATER NO3 and BEST CHEATER at the top of the leaderboard it must be so hard figuring out who are the cheats. Good luck finding those well hidden accounts.
anyone else notice that these jokers are about as cheap as possible?

I'M FINISHED! (Not that my opinion matters much to Hasbro)
Too bad, it was a good idea but very POOR EXECUTION. Nowhere near the concept of the Monopoly board game except for the Logo. They should call this game "Long Streets, Cheap Houses"
1) 1 Minute for each house we build.
2) Changing rules withouth telling us.
3) Most easiest game ever for cheating.
4) Accounts deleted after 2 weeks if we don't play? what if we are busy.
5) If someone makes an offer to one of your street and you don't answer it will be sold automatically in just 7 days.
6) Bad management we all ever seen.
7) MOST of streets aren't in the same line.
8) Chance cards can take a huge percentage of your money.
9) You can't save your demolition or bonus cards for later, and the only reason to build more expensive buildings is to save time.
10) People can make 50 accounts and destroy all your houses.
11) A guy can make 50 accounts and transfer all money in just one account by offering himself
12) This game will end in just 3 Month and they must reset the game for 2nd time.
13) 99% of comments are angry .
It's just pointless, wasting time in this annoying game,

Are they monopolizing?
I think it's wrong that only one company makes the game Monopoly.
Hmm, is not it _BY-DESIGN_ ?? And so, it is not an exploit or anything.
a big street without a multiplier is just BORING! so what's the point of purchasing the big streets while you get the same return as a much shorter and less famous ones? It's like saying a house in Broadway cost the same rent as a house in a street you never ever heard of? I'm not blaming the game developer for anything wrong, it's their game anyway; but I still would root for a multiplier play.
Also I spent alot of time playing it to make sure I got all the streets I desire (without cheating) if this game is ever going to reset again, then this message is probably my last mark on Monopoly City.
Ok, I'm going about this all wrong, ill be denying any current offers. I'm getting more money which is what i don't want, I want to give away what i have. In order to do this I believe you need to be a lvl3. So heres the deal, buy any street for 100k, send me your acct and i'll trade you one of my 1-500Mill dollar rds. Rather than posting your acct here, if you have a twitter acct you can tweet me your acct @ezvpn and I'll send you the offer. It will vary, I plan on improving my rds spending all my cash. I hold no responsibility for you drawing attention to yourself by jumping into the local leader board, so be prepared to defend yourself. Hopefully you started in someplace obscure like most of my accts so not to draw attention from other players in that area.
Exploit? EXPLOIT??? How is using a strategy based on HOW YOU MADE THE GAME WORK an EXPLOIT??? It's called a FEATURE of regular gameplay. By saying that you didn't realize that increasing street price would also increase rent, you are essentially saying that you are so incompetant that you don't know how your own game works!

@diego
About you points
1)Well, sometimes
2)That is the most disturbing, hope it will not happen again.
3)Right
4)I think that's ok. You can foresee there will be some players becomes inactive or stop playing out of various reason. Even if no one complain about it.
5)That's something that makes you login regularly. If you are not playing, why keep your streets?
6)I agree.
7)Not most of them. Sometimes it is understandable because it happens in real world, but some of them are really weird.
8)They need to do some adjustment on that. Not a very big problem to me though.
9)You placed 2 points into 1. Let players saving chance card may be interesting but I'm not sure what will happen if a player can manage to stock a large number of them. It may cause a problem. I think even they would let you do it in the future, a number must be given. Say, 3 cards.
I think cheap and expensive have different purpose. I think it is fine. Cheap building pay low rent but pay off very quickly. Expensive buildings pay off very slowly but bring big profit in the long run.
10, 11) same as point 3
12) I don't think reset is required, but there are so many to be improve.
13) Usually happy players don't read the blog.

I had to leave town for the weekend right after the game restarted. I lost out on the chance to make huge money off the rent, this really kills my interest in the game when all those who could play for those first few days have such a huge edge now.
The rent is also still backwards... The more expensive buildings should yield a rent higher then their purchase price, its very risky building them as people will want to demolish them. Also there is little incentive to buy them, when the payout is so small. I would rather continue buying streets and stocking them with the $75 houses. At least with those, its a dollar for dollar return rate.
Honestly? Discouraged with this game! Also I lost my account and streets, there is nothing else interesting available for purchase and it's very very slow...
Hello, this game is so slow... unbelievable

You idiots. Congratulations on the worst product launch ever. After you ignored my emails, the cheater continued to reset my password until they cleared out my account. I am done. If anyone feels like using some hazards on a cheater, check out:

No software can completely prevent abusing. Cheaters are abusing the game and should be punish. Read the Terms and Condition.
i dont understand y is it Mr Monopoly's job to kill the cheater accounts... if the 'honest' players hate cheaters so much.. sabotage their streets.. im sure there wud be atleast 1,000,000 honest users out there... place as many hazards as u can... if every honest player can find 4 cheaters... and wud like their street to be sabotaged.. go ahead and name 1 of their street. im sure they wont have any space left to build anything after tht.
omg the global leaderboard is being used to advertise a cheating website. ROFLMAO!
how can any of you actually believe this is a game worth playing???
pathetic failure, mr moronopoly.
What's the deal? I just built 20+ houses and bought two properties and received no chance cards? Yesterday I had less than half that amount of transactions and I had 3 or 4 chance cards. Chance cards please!!!!
Anyone else think bestcheater is a spamming douchebag?
Seriously, nobody cares about your crappy site with it's non-information. Move along...
Okay, I would not have believed this last week, but I would now almost believe it if I saw a press release that read something like this:
Introducing Noopoly where the goal is not to create a monopoly, not to build a real estate empire, and not to be the consummate capitalist.
How do we accomplish this? By leveling the playing field, by removing all capitalistic incentives, by providing an excruciatingly-slow user experience which reduces the will to compete, by making sure everyone lives in harmony and sings songs and does not have any opportunity to gain market advantage. This, after all, is not Monopoly! Who would want to play that game?

I have more fun reading the comments here than playing the game.
This just sold the wrong street, takes forever to do anything and basically is a great, fun concept that is ruined by the terrible gameplay experience. I tried the first time, I tried at the reset and now I'm finished. I know you probably don't give a shit, since you client will see you've made your numbers and the overall idea is impressive. But I'm leaving more disappointed and angry than I was at the start. Probably won't play monopoly again or recommend anyone play this game.
also, your comment system eats a dick, for posting the newest at the end of the chain. your whole system must be run by a real user experience genius. "let's make it take a long time, have the logic be all fucked up, reset after people have started playing, and make the commenting section backwards." Nice work.
