Since we announced the reset, the feedback has been encouraging, thanks for sticking with us over the last 3 days or so. What's encouraging is that people LOVE the game and are enjoying their property magnate personas.
We have been working in the background to iron out problems and will announce the date of the reset once we're comfortable with the sites performance. In the mean time we recommend that you keep playing to develop your strategy. Play, negotiate, win!.. Let us know how you're getting on....

To help plan my strategy, I would love to know at what times are the rent paid out. An again how are you going to solve the obvious cheating that is rampant in the game. I just do not see how anyone can be in the billions already in just 3 days if you are playing by the rules and only have one account.
haha you are funny: Best strategy right now is:
make as many multiple accounts as possible and then bring all your money to your main account by trading all the time. Look at the top players right now. You never can make that much money in a day.
you need at least Email registration (i know you can make unlimited emails too, but this takes little more time (except you own your own server... then you can forward all emails to one, and you can have infinite emails)
ideas to make cheating impossible/harder:
1. players with same ip arent allowed to trade each other. (of course they can do router resets and go around it)
2. charge 2$ per account
3. limit trades according to level ingame:
- 1 trade / day for level 1 account
- 3 trades / day for level 2
- 10 for level 3 and so on
4. trades could need time to do. So if I give you an offer and you accept, it takes 24h till the trade is finished. After 24 hours you get the money, I get the street.
5. taxes: If you trade, 10% of the trade goes to bank.
there is no way to really make cheating impossible, but it gets less efficient. In addition the admins will have to watch the ranking leaders, and if they see any suspicious trades or something, they have to do something about it.
if you dont do something against cheating, the game is just pointless

It is obvious that the players on the leader board are creating multiple dummy accounts, and then buying streets from the main user account at inflated prices.
I think you should cap the maximum price that you can buy a property for at 120 percent - that will at least make it less profitable to cheat.
another idea:
dont give 3000000 million starting money, but give those 3 million in form of streets and buildings. if a player register, he should be forced to build at least 2.5 million of this 3 million.

What's the problem with multiple accounts - it's how the real world works - with shell companies etc.
The real problem is that without multiple accounts the game play gets dull very quickly. So I've spent my rent on buildings or new streets, I haven't got a chance, my cash is now very low - what's there to do other than sign out and wait for tomorrow?
Would be good to be able to buy a chance.
At the start build lots of the 50k and 75k buildings so you get %100 of your money you spent back, probably the best legit newbie tactic currently
Oh, and we can't 'negotiate', there is no private message function..

As a game designer myself, I'm very unimpressed with the game so far.
There is absolutely no strategy at all. There are so many bad design decisions in this game I don't even know where to begin.
You can spend all your 'hard earned' money on buildings and then 1 minute before you get paid its all taken away by pure CHANCE. And there is no strategy to counter this without the luck of CHANCE on your side.
Chance alone is a good suppliment to a game, not a defining feature which says if you win or lose. Not for a game which requires as much time as this.
Yep, Stylw is correct, we need an in-game way to "communicate", and to add "privately". :)
I think we also need some sort of "guild" system, not a full-blown guild system, but something basic only. Benefits could be the inability to sabotage a co-member and the ability to "help" a co-member (ie demolish his/her hazards, build a bonus to his/her streets, transfer or loan cash).
Then maybe later down the road, you can add more features to it. But for now, some basic functionality and features will suffice. Think of it as "The Penguin Group of Companies" or "The Linux Group" (of Companies), and so on.
I can't access the friends menu of the leaderboard anymore. I was able to access it on WED but not since. I've talked to 10 of my coworkers playing MCS but I seem to be the only one experiencing this issue....
When I click "friends" I always get the text prompt "Um...Our servers are down. We're trying to find out if the building with them has been demolished. Best give us some time and come back a bit later"
If I click the friends tab again the text within the above prompt flashes red.
Please Please Please fix this issue. This bug does not affect my actual gameplay but makes monopoly city streets considerably less fun.

I'm not really sure if the transfer or loan cash is a good idea, people would probably just register more accounts and transfer all the starting money over to there main.
if you have 1M left, why is it impossible to buy a street for 1M ??
I have been playing regularly now since the start, staying in the top ten of a national leaderboard (of a smallish country with no cheating!) and am enjoying the game. However, I have one comment regarding the rent formula and its consequences.
Proximity of other owned streets seems to have no effect on building rent, which I thought it should... Because of this there is no reward for a more organic and reality based strategy (trying to monopolize a local area) but rather just a hunt for long roads. This adds to the boring fact that the best roads are motorways that in reality have very little built fabric.
Could you please, please, please try to change this for the relaunch? It would immensly increadse the experience.. .
I own a mainstreet of our capital city.
I HAD 50+ buildings and 2 bonus buildings.
Someones destroyed both bonus buildings. Now everyone is bulldozing my buildings or sabotaging my street.
Lost 7 buildings and both bonus buildings in few hours. rent value was about 8 millions, now only 5,8. BUT because i have now 3 hazards in my street i get only 1 million.
SO WHAT CAN I DO??? Just look when they destroy my street to ground????? This is not so funny anymore..
Should i only build low-price buildings, so it's not so big loss, if they destroy them too??

This morning, when I logged in, I found out why I probably will not "really" play after the Reset:
I received a little rent-money, immediately bought streets and buildings. Got a Hazard-Card, pi**ed off another player with it. Checked my property if everything was OK.
Time: Under 10 minutes.
So what I am supposed to do with the other 23 hours and 50 minutes ??
There are of course a lot of possibilities for more motivation.
But I think an "easy" one might be to pay rent 24 hours after the street/building was *bought*
This way, over time, you'd have a steady flow of rent and whenever you log in you would at least have some money to spend.
What do you think about that ??
Or even better: What are YOU going to do after the 10 minutes?

The problem of cheating is that the after 2 minutes of game, the strees are all selled and the player that remaining to play is only cheaters , and the people that not cheat?

to answer this: it will take 10 min at the beginning. imagine in 4 weeks, when you get 1 billion rent a day, or even more.... you wont have enough time to spend all your money. :D
The game is quite interesting, but I'd like to see a bit more "social connections".. to say, an RSS feed of my latest operations (buying streets, etc...), possibility to post them on facebook or twitter, etc...
More generally, that's my question: is the game engine "frozen" or we may expect a certain degree of developement while the game is working?

It would be nice to receive rent on a minute-by-minute (or hourly or based on any sane fraction of the day) basis. This way game play would not be 5 minutes of a 24h day (at least on lower levels).
I imagine that you can do a lot of trading once you have 10+ streets and 100+ millions, but until then, you're stuck with buying 1-2 streets and building 10-20 houses, then waiting 23:55 until the next day starts.

I want to start the game but i can't find ANY STREET in the whole world available to buy. EVERYTHING SEEMS PURCHASED!!!!
I think that the bulldozer MUST NOT be able to destroy bonuses. Another chance card must be designed to allow this... Because actually the bulldozer is way too usefull... If you didn't have the chance to get one (i have 10 chance card 5 bonuses, 2 cashes, 2 taxes, 1 hazard and no bulldozer) , you can't remove any hazard on you road, but if the ratio of bulldozer is increased any member of a top 10 will be razed as soon as he arrive in the top...
Transaction must be slowed by limiting the value of offers you can make (for exemple 10% of your total wealth) and the number per days (1 per level for exemple)
There must be a communication system in the game to allow negociation...
One of my streets has vanished, and i also have the problem of having streets and not seeing them, i have to build on those streets to make them visible.

i had noticed the top few people selling streets, buying them back, selling them again and so on and so on, would seem thats how they get to the top of the leaderboard
Multiple account people are ruing this game. I mean, I have two accounts too, but I take no advantage of it. 1st one I play in my city and the other in my favorite city in one of the countries in Africa.
But one damn guy, with name MADMAX, has at least 5 accounts in that city, and he bought all the streets around! He uses nicknames like MADMAX XY where XY is name of street or city. I believe he must have dozens of accounts.
What a waste of time - don't reset the game - just get rid of all the cheaters who have amassed a fortune!

1. Bonus buildings should have health like Super Mario. If somebody is trying to bulldoze it it would need 3 hits before it gets struck down. A chancecard could include "fixing" broken bonusbuildings.

4. I want a button to check available streets in my area, city, country.
5. I want to be able to message other players and have them message me through profile.
6. I agree with the Alec the game designer...to much is up to chance. I don´t have an idea how to incorporate more strategy though...just saying. I´ve been playing since minute one and I´ve gotten 2 hazard cards but 7 ppl have bulldozed my most expensive buildings and hazarded my streets. I have a very low income and gameplay is not at all working.

I get exactly the same thing, it is really frustrating as I can't see any way of getting revenge on the people who have hazarded my streets!
My username got double-registered to someone in Germany! I had registered the day before, then the next day I couldn't log in, apparently someone in Germany was using my username!
Please tie accounts to email addresses, it makes password recovery better.

Well Blocking the same IP address isnt a good thing, at least it counts for me, my parents like playing monopoly so how could they play?
about the reset: Delete everything, all accountnames and put it together with an email addres so login can be done with one email addres! i mean that it is unfair that people do extremly cheat!

You should make a vote to know if people who spent (a lot of) time those days playing want to start over again...

Those who ask for restart are lack of sportsmanship.
Today a group of players found that are not doing good so they ask for restart. After restart there will be another group of players ask for the same thing. How many restart will there be until they understand?
So if there have to be a restart. The game should let the players who registered in the first a few hours last Wed to play first, for a few hours, before other players and new players register. Players who played hard in first round should have some reward.
OK, my "good street" where I suppose to earn money is sabotaged and I'm basically earning no money now. What can I do? Wait for the damn card? I didn't get bulldozer EVER. I want option to BUY bulldozer.

I think bonus buildings should be safer. Maybe they should be valid for 7 days only. Maybe there should be a chance card which disables a player's own bonus buildings. Or a rare special chance card for destroying them.

Looking forward to the reset now that i've got my strategy sorted (it's a secret!).
The Hazard cards hurt because everyone is currently low level, and most only have one or two long "cash-cow" streets and losing one of these to a hazard will impair you quite significantly in the early stages.
On my account, the first 4 chance cards i got were all hazards and i got 3 of these on day one, so if i hadn't discarded them and invited lots of retaliation i could have annoyed an awful lot of people.
The solution: don't dole out the hazards so early, give it a week and increase the frequency, that way everyone can get established before we start sabotaging each other :D.
Also, perhaps it would be good to store and trade chances, like a bulldozer, like you can with Get-out-of-jail-free cards in actual Monopoly.

not everyone could register on weds because of server issues, and also peoples user names got re-registered and their accounts and streets locked out, this reset is not unsporting, quite the opposite, now everone will have an equal and fair chance to get the streets they want.
Super Rei: You probably didn't get the point. The game was totally unavailable for MOST of the players and the few lucky ones had advantage of buying good streets and being 1 day ahead. The restart is not about "not doing good", sheeeesh.
To the Monopoly City Streets team:
In rules, there is written that you should try to buy all the streets nearby so you will earn more. But do you? I didn't noticed. As someone said before me, the real strategy is only to buy big long roads and buy as many houses as possible on them. I want this game to be as you wrote in rules. I want the competition about trying to get whole neighbourhoods so you would get much more money. That would be fun.
Without the multi-accounting (only way to cheat as far as i see) this game would be very enjoyable. Keep up the good work!

i own a street, king street in salford, it says its near langworthy road, but its not there. i cant see it, it wont turn red, and most importantly i cant build anything on it. wtf?
btw it is absolutely senseless, that 1 million streets are the only streets, that make sense to buy. Why is rent on them so high in comparison to short streets?
I think it should be equal. Long streets have the advantage, that you can build more buildings. its game destroying if they are the only thing to go for.
I think, rich players should pay taxes!!! - Maybe, have daily income caps... Limit the ammount of trades per day... or - gain trade tokens by winning chances. This game would not be fair if people are going to make loads of accounts and earn stupid ammounts of money.
-Also, I think I may have found a bug, but not sure if it is one yet...
What happens if you build a bonus building, on a street with a hazard. Can you still bulldoze the hazzard? - Im not sure if I can yet.

the big streets gain more rent and income from buildings because they are far more vulnerable to hazards, whereas lots of small streets bring a lower income but are excellant at damage control.
How can we destroy a bonus building?
I registered early yesterday before work. When I got home to log in, it said my password was incorrect. I answered the little question and it told me I was wrong again. Turns out, some dude 250 miles away is running my account... Seriously? Reset. Fix the account problems. This seems like it has potential to be a fun game.
Also the minute by minute idea is a good one since as well as being able to play all day it will encourage people to think about how they spend their money, should they buy the house now? or wait for the bigger house?

I will not play after the reset if the cheating problem is not resolved.
I've made a few calculations, and only 4 buildings pay back in 0.9 to 1 day (when built on a long road). So after the reset, I'll find some long roads and build these buildings on it, and keep on doing that until I'm bored :S
Wouldn't it be nicer if a large building returns more (in percentage of building cost) than small buildings? Or at least not decline that fast? I mean: what purpose could it possibly have that the monopoly tower is only paying itself back in 30 days? Nobody is going to build that, even if people could afford it. This really affects the diversity of the buildings built, and therefore of the game. It's also a problem that when the money starts to flow, and you want to win, you have to spend more and more time searching the earth for long roads to place the vast amount of houses you can afford whose have the best ROI. This means that the only way to make lots of money after a few months of playing (except for cheating of course) is to be unemployed and search the earth for long roads all day.
So please: make more expensive buildings more profitable.
Oh, and in the Dutch translation, "dismiss" of a chance card is translated as "wegleggen", which loosly translates as "put aside for another time". Because chance cards can't be stored for later use, please change this translation. For example to "niet gebruiken" (don't use).
You should allow offers below purchase price!
A street with 2 sewage works on it is not worth the price it was bought for.
Also there is not much wrong with multiple accounts, as someone said, people open shell companies in the real world (and do a lot worse) to get hold of prime locations.
also limiting 1 ip adress to one account is a disadvantage for large families.
Limitations should be implemented the higher the value of your portfolio, you rarely get the taxman going through your accounts if you make 10k a year! If you make 10mill a year they are all over you, should be the same here.
The game has potential but 23h of innaction makes it rather dull.
Also as another player said, people who have put up with the teething problems and been active should be rewarded.
Okay so here is the problem with the game and I have seen this first hand. If you only have one account and you do something to someone with more than one account they start hitting you with all their bad chance cards from all their accounts. I only have one account and I only destroyed on building and it set off a chain of three different account sabotaging everything I own.
They need to figure out how to prevent people from creating more than one account and using them against the same person. Makes the game less fun I think.
Since the Reset is coming anyway, I just made an experiment in "cheating"
I created two dummy-accounts, bought a big godforsaken street somewhere and started trading back and forth to accumulate money on one of the accounts.
And it would take FOREVER and a day for 100 people parallel to amass trillions (!!) of money in one or two days.
So either they found another way of cheating, possibly not even linked to multi-accounts.
Or, they might somehow have "automated" the process, so it does it hundredfold on its own.
For me, I see no way to accumulate such sums, unless I would spend 24/7 on 10 computers parallel.
So what I am saying is: Please don't concentrate on solving the multi-account problem alone, but check what the "really rich ones" did ...
I'd like a chance card that gives me the opportunity to hire the local Mob to patrol my streets and eliminate anyone (from the game) who does not have mob protection and attempts to put a hazard on MY streets. Also, I'd like there to be a risk to putting hazards on a competitor's street (or bulldozing a competitor's building) - like the risk of getting caught and going to jail without the possibility to do anything for 24 hours.
The whole hazard/bulldoze thing leaves way too much up to chance. And it's bloody annoying to make the national top list just to see rows of people with new accounts wreak havoc on my main street.

I like the idea of the game, but I think there are a few problems, as many people have already pointed out.
Problem 1.
Slow start (you spend your money quickly at the start, and then have nothing to do til next rent comes in)
Solution 1.
Encourage/force players to buy lower value streets, and build lower value buildings at the start. Maybe only allow players to buy high value streets at certain levels, or increase the cost difference of streets.
Pay out 1/24th of the rent every hour.
Problem 2.
Chance cards have too drastic an effect.
Solution 2.
Hazard buildings should only decrease rent by a small percentage. Limit the no. of times a street can be hit with a chance card (maybe 1 a day)
After a hazard is built on a street, the probability of the owner receiving a bulldozer card should increase
Allow the owner to pay to demolish a hazard (cost based on street value)
Solution 1 & 2
Add a highlited section to the Game Rules to advise users to start with smaller streets and buildings, and to spread buildings across multiple streets to get a better start to the game, and to avoid their main street getting hit with hazards & bulldozers

Social aspect almost non-existent

As mentioned in previous posts, a chat/message and a guild/cartel type system would really help the social aspect of the game

Multi-accounting isn't exactly cheating, it's just abusing a short-coming in the game. It should be discouraged as much as possible.
An 1 account per IP limit would NOT work, as there are plenty of people that share PCs (families, roommates, students using library PCs, etc.)
Limit transactions so that you can only offer 10% above or below the value of a street per level. Then at max level, remove that limitation. This will force users to get their accounts to the max level before they can get benefits from multi-accounting, which would require quite a deal of time.
Limit the amount of transactions an account can make with another account to something like 1 per week, forcing users to trade with lots of different users.
The ability to store chance cards would be good.
I have had to discard one demolish and one place a hazard card as I didn't want to play them straight away.
TRIED POSTING THIS A FEW PLACES NOW BUT HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED ANY WORD WHETHER OR NOT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY PROGRAMMERS.
IN DARTMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA THERE IS A MYSTERIOUS STREET CALLED "FIXME" IT IS COMPRISED OF AT LEAST 20 ACTUAL STREETS SO THE OWNER OF THIS CARD CAN BUILD ON 20 STREETS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.
THE CARD IS CALLED 'FIXME' PROBABLY BECAUSE IT SHOULD BE FIXED! PLEASE LOOK AT THIS ISSUE AS IT OFFERS A TREMENDOUSLY UNFAIR ADVANTAGE TO ITS OWNER.
Sorry for the caps, I am trying to get the attention of admins or people who can effectively address this issue.
Congratulations, this game rocks!! I am not excited about the reset, but if you must do it, then here some suggestions:
1) If I buy a crossing street, their rent should be multiplied x 2, then if I add another crossing street to my group, then multiply their rent x 3 and so forth. Something like the real Monopoly.
2) It will be nice to store chance cards and hazard cards.
3) The price of the streets should be set according to their lenght and demand, and their maximum price should not always be 1M... why not set it at 5 or 10M?
4) I want to be able to really negotiate!
5) The maximum price for a negotiation should not be 1.5 times the value of the street. I would never sell one of my hard earned streets for that. Why not limit the amount of negotiations per day instead?
6) Why not, as someone already said, pay rents more often, like every 6 or 12 hours. I absolutely love the game, but hate to wait until the next day to keep on playing.
7) What about being able to buy the airports for 10M, ah? .... and what about the parks?
8) Please, link accounts to valid email addresses!
9) Why not give at least a 1hr headstart to the "old version" players... or a couple of million more in our accounts?
10) Prices of buildings on cheaper streets should be also cheaper!! otherwise it makes no sense to buy cheap streets, unless their proximity makes them a better business. see suggestion 1.

Everyone on Wed experienced the server problem. I did also. Player who can buy some streets on that day are not purely out of luck. They waited patiently before the game start and tried very hard when the game began. People who came late and give up retrying should suffer a litter bit. This make perfect sense to me.
i've been in the top 10 of the local and national leaderboards and it's quiet annoying. as soon as i entered them, streets were hazarded, buildings were bulldozed (what's up with that btw..) - trying to gain money fast just doesn't seem worth it. the main problem is, is that the only way to find players is, is through the top 10. so if people get a nasty card. they just going to waste it on the top players..
i'm not a fan of the 'negative' cards anyway. it's not constructive, if one would have to pay to put up a negative building. they would really use it when needed.

I have no strategy because my opponents can create hordes of dummy accounts then wipe out my buildings and replace them with hazards.

The best I can determine is rent payout 'begins' at GMT +0000. I've been monitoring it for a day now for that very reason. How long it takes to cycle through the entire player list is any man's guess. I'll be observing tomorrow as well.

As I've suggested before, half rent twice daily would add a little zest to the game I feel. Maybe even every 8 hours given this is an international playing field. I'd imagine that after a while, once everyone tunes into the current once per day pay time, that it would only create a surge on server/traffic demands as people stormed to do their work. Spreading the rent across the 24 hour period might lessen the impact on game play. This idea would also create a compound effect on total value as you would become richer just that little bit quicker (in a perfect case scenario that is .. no hazards/sales etc). I'm in favour of a 12 hr cycle.

I just wanna mention that I really think the hazard/demolition ratio is TOTALLY off. I've built 3 hazards, have two on my properties and have only received ONE demolition card. And that was before I even had an hazards on my property!!

It would also be nice to have a phased bonus/malus on hazards and bonus buildings.
For on Day 1 after being placed a Hazard would cancel rent payment and Bonus would not allow Hazards to be built.
As of Day 2 of their presence on a street, a Hazard would decrease, a Bonus increase the rent payout by 50-15%. Even better if this could be degressive (start at 50 and go down daily by 5% to settle on 15%). The concept behind being that people do get used to new nasty and good buildings in the neighborhood. After the shock wears off, property value goes back toward the normal level.
This way a new player, having bought a street, used all money on construction and not having received a Chance card would not be effectively out of the game for a great long time because of a Harard placed on their single street. Until another Chance came along, allowing them to destroy the Hazard they wouldn't collect rent.
Thanks for a great game. I hope you take a lot of the suggestions into account, it will improve the game dramatically.

I like the idea for the most part, including being able to loan friends money and especially demolishing their hazards.
As for a way to limit just starting a new account and handing over your money, have 1/2 of your rent automatically handed over to the person until it's paid off, or if that's not secure enough, make it so you can only give a certain amount per day, and it can only be 1/2 your current cash total. Or, at the least, make it so an account has to be active for a certain length of time before it can loan/receive money.
A few friends and I wanted to pretty much take over a certain area, and trade amongst ourselves while ousting everyone else, and this is a great way to do it. You have a hazard, buddy? Let me just take care of that for you! It would make it so much more awesome.
I'm saying that, too, as someone who probably wouldn't be able to do that, as said friends and I share an IP, and that probably wouldn't be allowed to protect against multiple accounts.
I do have a random ethics question for everyone: I want street A. I don't have the cash for it right now. I make account B and buy it, then when I do have the money, I buy it at full price from the other account. I have not done this, it just seems like a viable and legal, if unethical, thing to do. Thoughts?

Solution #2 We can have chance cards as well to only demolish obstructions/hazard without buildings, perhaps you can increase the rate of this kind of card that will come out, so that users can still gain their rent for the streets (alternatively, streets with hazards can still get their rent, but probably with 50% less ? So that no one else will lose out on this game) :D

i'd like a 'nearest available street' button. and something to do with the other 23 hours and 50 minutes of the day. even leaving it logged in, if i'm not buyinh streets or property, i get no chance cards, and theres noting else to do.
Oh ya, perhaps we can have a lucky chance card draw every day when we log in. Some sort of chance moment for us to see if we can get more money or deduction just before we continue on our adventure the next day? Good idea?

I think it would be good if after the reset we have more streets to buy.

Some ideas (very likely they have already been said):
1. Bonuses are opportunites only, if you want to use them then pay for them. If you want to demolish an opponent's building you have to pay double? price of the building.
2. Demolishing should have a chance of success depending on the players levels. In case of failure the player should be jailed.
3. Bonus buildings could have different meanings, for example, the school protects from hazards while the stadium increases a rent.
4. I would like to build something like a police station which decreases a chance of being buldozed as increases a chance of catching the opponent.

You can also trade properties to make money. Making an new account spend 2.5 of 3 mil on properties might slow them a bit but that's all.
For instance you would buy 2.5 mil in properties and still trade .5 mil and 2.5 mil in properties to the main account for a lone 100K property. Still shortly the main account will be huge.
Bought a road last night and built a bonus building to protect it. Approximately 8 hours later some guy comes along and manages to bulldoze a building on this "protected" street - how so??

If a new player is dumb enough to put all their money into one street and it get's hazarded that's their fault. They would have to sell the street to the bank and buy some more to continue to play.
Also I being dumb did do this and got hazarded and I still got some rent after the first day. So you must get a minimum or something.
You guys need to seriously look at how people are hacking this game. Just 7 hours ago, the top person globally had $56 Billion dollars. Logged in and checked the leaderboard and now 2 players (who weren't on there yesterday) have over $1 Trillion dollars....I call BS...sorry. Plus they have less than 20 streets each...BS.
I really hope you guys change the signup process as its WAY TOO EASY for people to make multiple accounts.
@ Mark & dnk - The description when you put down a bonus building says: "This street is protected from bulldozers & hazards". So that shouldn't be allowed and if it's true then they need to changed the description for bonus buildings.
Ok, multiple account cheating is not too fair, but: what about those people who wants to play more than 1 game per city? What about those places (in the real world) where there is only 1 IP for an entire (public or not) building (firewall, routers etc.?
For fast growing you need fast cheating. I think a kind of control over fast growing accounts, maybe a starting point.
The reset is awful, ok, but I think after x days we will have entire cities bought by few guys without any chance to access the game. Maybe an annual or quarterly reset, with consistent account saving for everyone, a way too make game more interesting.

why restart ? lot of people are already here since the beginning of the game. Theses persons will learn about their own mistakes and they will restart the game with an advantage, new players will do mistakes,the beginning of the game is already ending for most of them...
No point playing unless cheating is fixed. But it feels like a lazily-built game anyway, so I'm not holding any hope.
One thing that would slow down the cheaters would be make it so that a new account can not buy properties from another account until after the first rent or until they reach level 2.
Putting a value cap on player to player trades would defeat the supply and demain aspects of the game.
Also I haven't tried swaping properties. Is there a limit to how many you can trade at once? If not that might be a good idea.

I agree about the money over time thingy. Maybe you can give the rent 24h after the buying of the street, or split the rent over 24 parts, and give 1 part every hour.
Also, about the reset, it would be nice if you can update your data from openstreets before it. I guess many people registered and added they own hometown to the database, adding a huge amount of streets (well, I know it is the first thing I did when I couldn't find my own street :))

However I am pretty sure they would still receive a little rent from experience.

I have a suggestion:
What about paying out rent 2 or 4 times daily, with only the appropriate fraction of the rent coming in at any given time.
If we received 1/4 of our rent 4 times a day, it would give us much greater incentive to come back to the computer to play again many times per day.
As it is currently, we're stuck making a batch of plays, then waiting at least 24 hours for rent to come through. This gets really boring quickly.

Forgot to mention that I really like this game and that it's good. I think one thing you guys need to do as well is add more streets as not every street is purchasable as you say in your motto.
I think this game would do much better being on a server with multiple worlds and such so the entire world isn't playing on ONE map. Things are gone so fast and I've been here since day one, I'm sure this is due to the multiple account people though.

Multi Accounting?
It makes the game less interesting. It's a battle of who have the most accounts instead of skills.
I tried it myself, and got bored.
I logged on, and someone demolished a bonus building from one of my fully built streets.
-What I did was I created 5 accounts.
-I made an account to put the highest possible offer to my main account's hazarded streets. --For other accounts, I sent all the negative chance cards to the person who demolished my bonus building.
-Then I overpriced street offers to my original account.
-I logged back on again to my original account then accepted all the offers, I sent the lowest possible offers to my clone accounts.
-I became the number 1 in my entire country, and eventually got bored.
Suggestion:
I played several online browser based games. Disabled interaction between accounts in the same connection. No ifs or buts.
Also, If the property was bought/bid in a certain price, it should become the minimum price, or can be 1% less than that price.
If I may say so, I think a restart is unnecessary since everyone suffered from the same problems in the beginning, with the site being down or extremely slow... I suffered from that too, but with some extra effort (in terms of time spent and number of times I pressed F5 lol) I managed to get some streets. Therefore, I think its unfair for me (and any other honest players out there) to get their hard-work vanished just because some people couldn't be troubled to hang on and F5 a lot and only started playing when the game's speed was better. Obviously by then the nice streets were all sold, so now they complain and demand a reset!
Apart from that, I of course agree that the suspicious cheating accounts should be investigated, and a proper anti-double accounting scheme should be put into place!
A question ...
It seems that I must take some action (buy, build ... etc.) to pop a chance card. It is not delivered in a regular period. Am I right?

@ blink - its not just about you, it's mostly about clearing up the people who have abused the game due to loopholes. Now if they don't fix these loopholes before the reset and allow it to continue, then there was no point of the reset.

I am sure the reset has more to do with the duplicate accounts than the outages. It would be a mess to fix that without a restart. Also if they have fixes to slow down astroturfing accounts, a reset will remove the large cheaters as well as all their additional accounts.

Well, given your counter-comments, I'm forced to agree that a reset is a necessary evil. Provided, of course, that some anti-cheating measures are taken beforehand! And I guess it will gives us all some time to think and plan which streets to snatch when the restart comes ;-)
I don't think there should be a cap on the sale value of a street. That would kill the supply and demand mechanics of the game.

The speed and loading had been so so smooth today. Less than 2 seconds for the search to search available streets. Oh my ! I love this !!!

@ MR. MONOPOLY HIMSELF - Fix the darn bulldozers! It clearly states on your property card (when protected) that it is protected from hazards and bulldozers.
I like the idea of multiple accounts, there should be a better way to manage and control them, opening multiple browser screens gets tedious. Plus it adds another level of game play, many corps. uses shell companies, especially in real estate. And the use of hazards is a little umbalanced. It should not shut down rent for the whole street, just a portion around it.

Also, what needs to be fixed is finding and purchasing streets. That finder system is not accurate at all. I searched for a street that is really long. It brought be too it but when I brought up the "buy street" menu it would not show up in the list.
Then I followed the street into a very remote area and brought up the "buy street" menu and it showed up as purchasable!!! This makes no sense. I've lost the chance to buy streets just because I wasn't at the right buying spot... that's a little silly.

@nigel why would multiple accounts be cheating? Maybe some people want to spend more than 15 minutes a day playing. What's cheating is creating accounts for the sole purpose of transfering the money to your main account rapidly. Even that isn't really against any rules set down. Also you don't need to be one person with multiple accounts to do this. You could do it with 10 friends all with single accounts.

I've not cheated - have just bought some really good streets that nobody thought of in the first few days.
My chances if it all starts again are slim.
Decidedly discouraged and strongly doubt I'll bother to play if the reset does go ahead.
I want a Soccer Mom Chance Card. You can use it to overcrowd your competitors' streets and malls with SUVs to the point where any construction company will not be able to enter your competitors street to undertake the construction of new buildings.
And to counteract the Soccer Mom Chance Card, you can draw the MILF Seduction Chance Card. You use it to build a soccer camp on a street where someone has used the Soccer Mom Chance Card. All the soccer moms will drop their kids off at soccer camp and suddenly construction workers noticing all the MILFs around will construct any building for you at half the price.

Street selecting - Is it possible to select a street by simply double clicking it?! this would be a huge difference for me... for example... Earlier on I had a number (5!) of buldozer chance cards, although I had nothing I wanted to bulldoze I thought I'd be nice and get rid of a factory on a fellow townsperson.... The quickest way I could do this was to try and add that person as a friend etc and then do it that way.... except the fact the friends leaderboard was down?! To be honest, I dont want to add every single person I want to do anything to as a friend.
Selecting a building - Atm if I dont get rid of my street list prior to selecting a building on one of my streets, that building will not appear (as a card). My streets list disappears as if the building card is loading but nothing happens.
someone mentioned earlier about the fact it would be an idea to charge $2 or something for an account... I dont think thats such a bad idea...
A messaging service within game would be HUGELY beneficial. for everything from just player retention during the day to actually providing a usefull platform for transfer of deals and tactics etc.
Street sale cap - I dont actually think this is a good idea... how many people have actually played the "real" monopoly and charge someone ONLY 1.5 x the original value. Also in many instances it would be more beneficial to "ask" someone to buy there street to try and realise some quick cash. Not exactly along the lines of monopoly but to really exapand this game and develop it to a full time thing perhaps a ingame Auction could be implemented. A local, national, global "fee" could be implemented according to the level of advertisement you want... a BUYOUT price could be introduced for a larger fee or let it run for a period of days etc. (perhaps auction function could be introduced for "premium" players?)
Anyway, there are lots of things you can do to improve this, multiaccounting MUST be watched. Surely you can work out (its not that hard)... what would be the largest amount an account can make in a day through normal means... a daily diagnostic to check the playerbase for these figures cant be that hard? or am I Just NOOB ,-)
Please make little tab so you can track your offers! it would really help! also reduce the time...maybe 3 days? a week is way too long.

a 10 or 20% of your total wealth limit for transaction will only prevent cheats... for a normal player trying to negociate a 1 million street can be done after 3 or 4 days...(time to reach 10 millions) This is not a limit that will prevent normal transactions...
One big problem in the actual game is that only the 1 million street have an interrest...
Other streets have less space and less rentability...
a 100 000 street can only have 1 to 3 building that have a rent value of 20% of the building value when the 1 M street have 30+ building spaces with a rent value of 95+% of the building value (for little buildings)
How can the other street have any interest in this configuration???
Something must be done about this the efficiency and length of the streets must not be tied like this...
a solution is that short street have high efficiency with little building (near 100%) when long street have medium efficiency (near 50%) and the opposite for huge building ... medium efficiency on short street if there is enough place to put such a building and higher efficiency on huge street...
This solution will allow people to have an interrest to buy short street to build little building to harvest money at the beginning when huge street will not be able to attain such rentability...
Really disappointed with the decision. Everyone had the same chance to get onto the game when performance was bad. Those who had the patience to stick with it and buy streets are now being penalised.
I can see it now, the game will be reset, I'll be at work, come back and find that all the streets I selected before will be taken!

There is always going to be more people looking for a reset than who doesn't especially as more players are in. moreover, this kind of "procedural democracy" is rather unjust. consider what happened in China in 50's, overwhelming number of chinese peasants wants to redistribute lands of their landlords to them in the expense of their landlord. so is it "justified" for the chinese government to say "more people want redistribution so it is a correct action to take?"

For those crying about the reset, please stop trying to compare it to real life, I am laughing so much my sides are going to burst. They own this game and it IS JUST A GAME. WHAT THEY DO WITH IT SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY AFFECT ON YOUR LIFE. Now if you had to pay something to play this game, then there would be more room to argue but no one put $1 dollar in this game so really, they don't even have to listen to anyone. Everyone should be somewhat happy that they're even taking suggestions.
I am one of the people that was there from the moment they launched and dealt with all the bad stuff that happened as well. The reset is needed, way too many cheaters it's insane and people are exploiting it even more now they've been revealed on the blog. Noticing people in my area are all of a sudden rising up... crazy.

search for a street.... if its free and you want to buy.make an offer on it.. it will then prompt you to reguster... be sure to pick a street in the area you wish to be "located" in though... as this choice will determine your locality on the board of fame etc lol
I'm having a problem where buildings I built yesterday with the lower rent income, such as a City Center, is still only recieving 39k rent as opposed to the new 75k rent that comes with the new houses.

Id like to see most costs involved in the game to allow the situation of ppl being forced to sell.
for example.
1. allowed to take a loan on future rent for a set % of interest. (maybe make a credit rating component)
2. property taxes
3. fees charge by municiplanity/state level--water, hydro, etc.??im not too sure about this one.
4. income taxes on rent
5. security for your properties. either against spying or hazards.
6. weather- influences, cost of maintaining or a hazard?
with having regular rental income and expenses the "bad" property managers will be more encouraged to sell in some cases if they dont run the business right.
otherwise i may never sell any of my properties b/c there is little reason too except for more $.

I think that some of the propositions made have some interest... Why many people wanted a reset?
because they were thinking that without a 1M street the game is unplayable... actually this is nearly true...
the 1M street have advantages in term of space that is nearly linear with the price AND advantages in term of efficiency that is totally unbalanced...
If nothing is done before the reset, 90% of the players will again ask for a reset as because of the lag during the first hours next week they wont be able to get a 1M street...
My proposition about the street is to modify the efficiency so that the global efficiency of any street is about the same (not as actually in a range from 20% to 100%) but the efficiency for each building may vary ...
For the first 3 or 5 buildings the short street have an excellent efficiency (near 100%) when long street have a medium efficiency (50-65%)
for the next 5 buildings any street have a good efficiency (80%)
for the last 5 buildings short street that can support them have a medium efficiency when long street have a excelent efficiency...
With such a modification any street have an interest...
In the beginning, if you didn't find a 1M street you can purchase short street to generate with little building some cash flow
If you find a 1M street you cash flow will be shortened if you put little houses (no more Avenue with 50 little houses) but if you build medium or great building your cash flow will be very high...
With such rules there will be many more interest to acquire street without being limited to 1Mstreet...

Its Just cool buying streets in a local arena. I like that he rules are simple (it means more ages can play). Its a fun game that is only spoiled by the multi account cheaters. Adding an e-mail wont help that at all because you can open a million online e-mails (and don't think he cheaters wont. I don't know what you do about them.
A couple things would be nice if possible.
1. we can keep chance cards until we need them (or want to use them).
2. Inter game communication to other players.

I am fairly sure 1M dollar streets are still available in the game, you just have to look. The dupped accounts is the biggest reason the reset is needed. As people lost their account access and it isn't easy to sort out after the fact.
I really think they need to make more streets purchaseable. I found a city in Turkey that only has 2 purchaseable street and the city if a fair size. Just tons of streets that can't be purchased. Fair too many.
